This is a recruitment for CORRECTIONS SERGEANT positions, with multiple vacancies available at various facilities throughout the state. Assignments may includeBUILDING, FIELD, KITCHEN, K-9, TRANSPORTATION, MEDICAL and CONSTRUCTION operations. Applicants will be considered based on agency hiring needs, qualifications, and candidate preference.
Additional screening questions and position-specific requirements may apply depending on the assignment, including horsemanship, K-9, kitchen/food service experience, or CDL requirements.

The Corrections Sergeant is responsible for overseeing the work of Corrections Corporals and Corrections Officers, ensuring the security and safety of inmates and staff in a correctional facility. This position involves supervising activities, implementing policies, and maintaining order. It is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
The formal education equivalent of a high school diploma, plus two years of experience in correctional security or law enforcement, including one year in a leadership capacity.
Satisfaction of the minimum qualifications, including years of experience and service, does not entitle employees to automatic progression within the job series. Promotion to the next classification level is at the discretion of the department and the Office of Personnel Management, taking into consideration the employee’s demonstrated skills, competencies, performance, workload responsibilities, and organizational needs.
