Job Description

The Corrections Oversight Worker supervises inmates to ensure that meal and food items are prepared according to production plans. Responsibilities include training workers, assigning and coordinating work to promote efficiency, maintaining facility sanitation, and ensuring personal safety by adhering to standards and regulations. Responsibilities may vary by location based on client needs.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Adhere to and maintain preparation and production guidelines per Aramark standards, reviewing and approving logs.
  2. Supervise inmates in food preparation and tray assembly.
  3. Ensure timely and efficient meal service, meeting all Aramark guidelines.
  4. Participate in meal preparation and serving.
  5. Distribute and explain recipes to staff and inmates.
  6. Train inmates on proper cooking procedures using Aramark recipes.
  7. Ensure proper portions and meet dietary requirements.
  8. Obtain and review daily population counts with staff.
  9. Follow security policies, keep storage areas locked, and secure keys.
  10. Manage work and sanitation schedules, ensuring adherence by staff and inmates.
  11. Assist with inventory management, food storage, and requisitioning supplies.
  12. Participate in meal assembly, storage, and food handling following HACCP policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be over 18 years old.
  • Preferred: at least 1 year of food prep or related experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience working with inmates is a plus.
  • Ability to motivate and supervise inmates and team members in a correctional environment.
  • Must obtain a food safety certification.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Follow safety procedures and policies.
  • Must qualify for and maintain correctional security clearance.
  • This role may involve physical tasks like lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended standing or walking. Uniforms and PPE may be required.
