Job summary

The Maine Department of Corrections is seeking qualified candidates to join Maine State Prison in Warren as a corrections professional focused on special populations with behavioral health or health needs. You will assess risk, provide counseling, and help implement treatment and reentry plans within a secured unit.

Ideal candidates bring experience in correctional settings, de‑escalation skills, and a commitment to humane, restorative approaches.

Qualifications

• Four (4) years of education and/or experience in treatment/case planning for individuals with traumatic backgrounds.
• Preference for an associate degree or two years post-secondary in behavioral health, social sciences or related field.
• Current Correctional Certification or successful completion of the Basic Corrections Training Program (BCTP).
• Successful Completion of Acuity Specialist Training Program upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess risks and needs, counsel and monitor resident behavior.
• Direct and oversee activities, craft behavioral or health modification strategies.
• Prepare behavior and incident reports.
• Participate in treatment strategy development and release planning.
• Integrate daily activities with treatment and reentry goals.
• Recommend interventions to enhance dynamic security practices.
• Provide technical support to staff in daily unit and goal‑oriented activities.
