Job summary

County of Calaveras is seeking a Correctional Technician at entry to journey levels within our jail operations. You will perform technical and clerical duties related to intake and release of prisoners, entering information into the booking system, and operating security equipment to maintain safety and order.

Positions range from Technician I to III, with increasing responsibility including training subordinates, coordinating booking issues, and ensuring adherence to jail policies.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to graduation from high school and computer literacy.
• Three years experience for Technician II; two years for Technician III.
• Possess a California driver’s license and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Process new prisoners from paper work provided by law enforcement or courts.
• Gather and enter prisoners' arrest information into the booking system; prepare and route booking reports.
• Inventory and secure inmates' personal property and monies.
• Complete files, logs, charts and other documents related to jail booking.
• Determine bail as set by the Superior Court.
• Coordinate booking issues with courts, probation, public defender and DA's office.
• Control jail access by operating security doors; monitor cameras.
• Receive and document visitors; monitor visits for legality.
• Monitor radio and jail phone/paging systems.
