- DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will lead inmate workers in food service operations at SCI Somerset. You can expect to instruct inmates in food preparation and production tasks through on-the-job vocational training. Your duties will include reviewing census and menu data, adjusting recipes accordingly, and recycling leftover food into usable food products to reduce waste. You can expect to inspect food service areas, equipment, and food for conformance with established safety and sanitation standards. Additionally, you will review inmate work assignments, conduct performance evaluations, and enforce custody and security regulations to ensure proper control over inmates.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours determined between the following two shifts at time of hire:
- 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM
- 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
- Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

- REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service of a variety of complete meal menus in an institutional food service operation, food catering service, restaurant, or in a similar large-scale food production operation; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Additional Requirements:
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
