Job Title: Corrections Food Service Instructor

Are you an energetic and enthusiastic individual who thrives on self-motivation and has a passion for food service? The Department of Corrections (DOC), at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Frackville, offers an exciting opportunity for you. As a Corrections Food Service Instructor, you will help inmates acquire valuable vocational skills for their future.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Leading inmate work crews by assigning, reviewing, and participating in routine and specialized tasks.
  2. Utilizing culinary skills in food preparation, production, service, and baking.
  3. Enforcing custody and security regulations and inspecting food service areas for safety and sanitation standards.
  4. Contributing to the mission of reducing criminal behavior through education and rehabilitation.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week with a rotating schedule.
  • No telework options for this position.
  • Starting salary for new employees is $46,986 annually.
  • Eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

Qualifications:

Minimum Experience and Training:

  • Two years of experience in food preparation, production, or service in a large-scale operation, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions.

  • Pass a background investigation and meet CJIS compliance requirements.
