Job summary

The Department of Corrections at SCI Chester seeks a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor to deliver electrical instruction in classroom and on-the-job settings, supervise inmate work crews, and monitor progress and safety.

This is a full-time, 40-hour week position with hours 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Telework is not available. Starting annual salary is $53,036 (before taxes), with potential increases per the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

  • Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings.
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

This role provides electrical instruction and oversees daily training that strengthens both safety and skill development. As a Corrections Electrical Trade Instructor, you will perform the following duties:

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $53,036.00 (before taxes). A higher salary may be established in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical wiring, fixtures, and equipment used in buildings; or
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship in the electrical trade; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year of journey level work in the electrical trade.

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
