Sinclair Community College in Chillicothe, Ohio seeks a Prison Education Specialist to coordinate SCC programs at Chillicothe Correctional. The role acts as a liaison with the warden, staff, and administration to shape instructional needs and develop certificate programs for incarcerated learners.

The position is part-time, offering $30.51 per hour with up to 28 hours per week, and includes benefits for part-time staff and opportunities for advancement within the program.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of professional work experience in a correctional, law enforcement, or higher education setting required; supervisory/educational experience preferred.
• Ability to exercise leadership for education program development in a correctional facility.
• Current working knowledge of and experience with the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between Sinclair Community College and Chillicothe Correctional Institution staff.
• Assess instructional needs within the Chillicothe facility.
• Develop and implement certificate programs with SCC leaders.
• Orient staff to teaching in a correctional setting and work with incarcerated learners and staff.
• Oversee security clearance processes and assist instructors as needed.
• Supervise the assistant coordinator and day-to-day operations.
• Maintain records and provide on-time reports to SCC and DRC.
