Job summary

The Washington State Department of Corrections seeks a Corrections Specialist 3 - Disciplinary Hearings Officer at Airway Heights Corrections Center. This permanent, full-time role conducts disciplinary hearings, applies evidentiary rules, due process requirements and state laws to determine misconduct and sanctions.

The CS3 provides supervision to one Corrections Specialist Assistant and one Correctional Officer 2, prepares findings and dispositions, and ensures hearings align with WACs and

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Four (4) years of professional experience in adult or juvenile corrections, social services, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for the overall administration of incarcerated individuals' disciplinary hearings at AHCC.
• Conducts administrative segregation and disciplinary hearings in compliance with WAC Chapter 137-28 in a timely frame.
• Makes independent decisions on facts presented in hearings; determines guilt and sanctions, including losses of liberty interests.
• Prepare Hearing, Findings, and Dispositions with rationale to support public safety and restorative justice concepts.
• Reviews DOC hearing policies monthly and keeps up to date with changes.
• Interprets RCWs, WACs, Federal Regulation and/or Case Law.
