You will gather data, interview inmates, and apply statutes and institutional rules to satisfy program requirements. Progression to Correctional Caseworker Specialist I is available after probation and demonstrated competency.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or GED with 3 years relevant correctional casework experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent can substitute for experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine casework to determine reclassification needs for inmates.
• Analyze case factors affecting classification decisions.
• Prepare and verify data from case histories and reports.
• Explain decisions per Nevada Revised Statutes and regulations.
• Serve on Disciplinary Committee and review inmate cases and violations.
• Prepare parole progress reports and assist with release planning.
