Job summary

East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS, operated by Management & Training Corporation (MTC), seeks a professional counselor to support inmate welfare and rehabilitation. You will plan, coordinate, and implement counseling programs for assigned inmates in line with ACA standards and MDOC directives.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in counseling or related field required.
• Bachelor’s degree and one year related experience preferred.
• A valid driver’s license in Mississippi with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Review background file, conduct interviews to tailor inmate programs.
• Maintain PSD folder for each inmate.
• Provide direct counseling for personal issues or problems (health, family, etc.).
• Offer individual and group counseling for education, vocational, and social adjustment.
• Suggest program modifications during inmate stay.
• Assist with unit program planning and scheduling.
• Conduct rounds to monitor operations and communicate with staff and inmates.
• Document progress and coordinate guidance strategies.
