The position requires interpreting education and experience requirements, including specialized experience at the next lower grade level and the ability to manage schedules, advise colleagues, and handle congressional correspondence as part of a broader agency mission.

Qualifications

  • Education: education not creditable above GL-05 for most positions; graduate education may be credited when directly related.
  • Experience: must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level.

Responsibilities

  • Follow up on committee actions: typing and distributing committee docket sheets, processing committee actions, and distributing copies to all concerned.
  • Scheduling and confirming a supervisor's appointments, special events and conferences and ensuring the supervisor is fully briefed on matters to be considered before the scheduled meeting, resolving schedule conflicts where feasible.
  • Advising/mentoring institution secretaries on procedural matters such as correct correspondence procedures.
  • Managing the institution's congressional response file: receiving congressionals, identifying the official responsible for response, suspending each congressional and following up on late responses and proofing responses before forwarding to supervisor for review.
