Job summary

State of Vermont seeks a Correctional Officer II to supervise staff and incarcerated individuals within a correctional facility. The role includes transportation and medication handling, searches, and reporting duties under supervision.

The position follows a 2-2-3 schedule with potential shift placement based on seniority and overtime as a condition of employment. Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent with correctional experience, or an Associate's degree with related work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 18+ months of work experience in a correctional system or in a psychiatric facility (direct care).
• Associate's degree or higher with 1+ year of correctional system experience.
• One year of military experience with 1+ year of correctional system experience.
• Physical and Mental Requirements: condition appropriate to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

• Supervises correctional staff and incarcerated individuals in a facility.
• Provides supervision and technical assistance to lower-ranking officers.
• May conduct transportation of medication between facilities and verify counts.
• Performs searches and inventories of property, sharps, and other items as needed.
• Evaluates staff performance and may prepare written reports.
