Job summary

The Vermont Department of Corrections seeks a temporary Correctional Officer I at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility to help maintain safety, security, and rehabilitation efforts. The role features a 2-2-3 schedule with 12-hour shifts and opportunities for overtime and shift differentials.

Candidates must meet minimum education/experience requirements and complete a paid Vermont Correctional Academy training program, followed by a probationary period. Background checks are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent plus 2+ years of full-time work experience.
• Or 1+ year of college coursework plus 1+ year of full-time work experience.
• Or 2+ years of college coursework.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety and security within a correctional facility.
• Complete annual mandated training and comply with policies.
• Work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required to maintain staffing.
