Job Overview

This is a Limited Term position for 12 months, with the possibility of extension or becoming permanent. The role involves supervising and training staff and inmate-workers responsible for preparing meals in a correctional healthcare facility, overseeing the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets, and ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and train staff and inmate-workers in meal preparation and service.
  2. Oversee the preparation and dispensing of therapeutic diets per physician orders.
  3. Ensure adherence to departmental and institutional policies, including Title 15, Department Operations Manual, and California Retail Food Code.
  4. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen facilities and equipment.
  5. Maintain order and supervise inmate conduct, ensuring safety of persons and property.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Experience: One year in California state service as a Cook Specialist II (Correctional Facility) or equivalent.
  2. Or two years of supervisory experience over cooks and food service workers, with responsibility for food preparation, cooking, and serving.
  3. Education: Equivalent to completion of twelfth grade.
