Job summary

Florida Department of Corrections seeks a CORRECTIONAL SERVICES CONSULTANT to lead Second Chance Employer partnerships across Region II Gainesville and statewide as needed. You will build relationships with employers, coordinate hiring events, and report outcomes to strengthen Florida’s workforce.

The role requires travel, strong Excel and documentation skills, and the ability to convey complex program information to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

• Must be computer literate and proficient with Microsoft programs including Excel, with strong documentation and recordkeeping skills.
• Must possess strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills, and be able to clearly and accurately convey complex program information to diverse audiences, including employers, community partners, and internal stakeholders.

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Region II Gainesville office in the Office of Programs and Re-Entry department.

The Correctional Services Consultant builds and sustains Second Chance Employer partnerships through strategic outreach and collaborative workforce initiatives, connecting reintegrating individuals with meaningful employment. By engaging employers and partners, we drive impactful hiring events and track outcomes to strengthen Florida’s workforce.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience in employer engagement, workforce development, recruiting, business development, and community outreach, including coordinating hiring events, developing workforce partnerships, managing business accounts, ensuring employer compliance, and directly engaging employers to create employment opportunities for justice-involved individuals.
• Experience presenting to employers, community organizations, or workforce partners.
• Demonstrated success achieving measurable job placement outcomes in a workforce development, staffing, or recruiting role.
• Current or former Pre-Release Employment Navigators (PRENs) with demonstrated employer engagement experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
