Job summary

Louisiana Department of Public Safety & Corrections – Corrections Services in Kinder, LA is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in a state correctional facility. You will administer medications, manage IV therapies, and support care for acute and chronic conditions within a secure, multidisciplinary team environment.

This position follows a 24-hour operation with set schedules and benefits, requiring a Louisiana RN license (or NLC) and offering progression through RN 1–3

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana RN license or temporary permit or NLC/eNLC to practice as RN.
• Must be able to work in a 24-hour correctional facility and may require shift work.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care including administration of medications, IV therapies, and central line treatments.
• Assist in developing and implementing nursing care plans tailored to patient needs.
• Conduct regular patient rounds to assess health and document observations.
• Receive and carry out physicians’ orders and coordinate with other departments to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Support physicians during examinations and document medical histories.
• Respond effectively to emergency code situations and stabilize patients.
• Educate patients on health, hygiene, and self-administration of prescribed medications.
• Administer medications and treatments safely and in compliance with laws and policies.
