Job description

Join to apply for the Correctional Registered Nurse - Expert role at STI.

Pay Rate: $51 / hour

NO 12-hour shifts. Every other weekend. Holidays as needed, not guaranteed hours. Days off rotate once during each week out of a 2-week period. Computer skills required, EMAR familiarity with little direction.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
  • Ability to enter health data for residents into electronic medical records database.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Available for a temporary assignment, up to 6 months.

Role Description:

The correctional nurse provides nursing care and treatment for inmates and detainees in correctional institutions across the state. Responsibilities include acting as a charge nurse, assessment coordinator, or staff nurse, providing professional nursing care, and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. Work involves assessing residents, developing care plans, supervising staff, and maintaining accurate documentation. The role requires competence in various clinical procedures and the ability to work independently within nursing standards.

This position is temporary, with a duration of up to 6 months.
