The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a licensed psychologist to evaluate and diagnose inmates and residents for mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders within our correctional facilities.

The role emphasizes high-stakes risk assessment, treatment planning, and collaboration with medical and correctional staff. Primary duties include supervising staff, providing psychotherapy, and facilitating referrals to psychiatrists as needed.

Qualifications

• PhD or PsyD in Psychology from an accredited university with current state licensure.
• Two years of correctional work experience is preferred.
• Maintain a current psychology license on file at the facility.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate mental health functions, including supervising and training staff.
• Examine and treat detainees to ensure proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and recovery.
• Provide psychotherapy or counseling for psychological disorders or mental illness.
• Refer to a psychiatrist as necessary.
• Evaluate mental status and symptoms to determine transfer or placement under observation due to suicide risk.
• Document services and comprehensive notes in patient medical records.
• Instruct staff and officers in recognizing suicide risk factors.
• Provide in-service education for medical and correctional staff as required.
