Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking a dedicated Primary Care Physician to provide comprehensive healthcare to incarcerated individuals in a correctional facility. You will diagnose, treat acute and chronic illnesses, manage preventive care, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team.

The role emphasizes patient safety, documentation accuracy, and adherence to legal and ethical standards. Board certification and an active state license are required, with experience in primary care or correctional medicine.

Qualifications

• Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
• Current and unrestricted medical license to practice medicine in the state where the facility is located and DEA registration.
• Experience in primary care, preferably in correctional medicine or working with underserved populations.
• Strong diagnostic and clinical skills with the ability to manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct evaluations, physicals, and medical histories for incarcerated individuals.
• Diagnose and treat a wide range of illnesses, injuries, and infections.
• Develop and implement treatment plans with medications and interventions.
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests and provide vaccinations and preventive care.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and coordinate care.
• Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality and compliance.
