Job summary

NaphCare is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join the BlackHawk County Jail team in Waterloo, IA. The role involves psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment planning for residents under supervision in a secure correctional setting.

The position emphasizes medication management, documentation, and collaboration with correctional staff to ensure high-quality mental health care while adhering to state and federal regulations.

Qualifications

• Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in Iowa.
• Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in Iowa.
• A current DEA registration in State.
• Active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnose mental health conditions for facility residents.
• Manage medications including prescribing, adjusting and discontinuing as needed.
• Maintain accurate patient records: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes.
• Respond to psychiatric emergencies and implement safety protocols within the facility.
• Coordinate and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care.
• Ensure compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement treatment plans.
