Job summary

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) seeks a NYS registered Pharmacy Technician to support jail-based pharmacy operations at Rikers Island. You will handle unit-dose distribution, patient profiles, dispensing, and coordination with pharmacists across satellite clinics.

The role requires accurate data entry, knowledge of Pyxis and pharmacy computer systems, and adherence to policy. Benefits include union participation and extensive pharmacy resources available within the correctional

Qualifications

Must be a NYS Registered Pharmacy Technician.
High School or equivalent diploma.
Completion of an approved Pharmacy Technician Training program or demonstrated equivalent experience.
As of January 2012, must be certified by PTCB.
Demonstrated pharmacy competence and independent decision making/problem solving abilities.
Ability to use email, scanners, copiers and fax machines.
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.

Responsibilities

Perform unit dose and carry drug distribution tasks under pharmacist supervision.
Pick up patient medication orders and scan into central system.
Maintain accurate patient profiles with changes in patient information.
Fill and label patient cassettes and discharge medications.
Distribute methadone and track related statistics per required forms.
Prepare and review transfer reports and ensure correct patient medication records.
