Job summary

The State of Florida is seeking Correctional Officers for multiple positions statewide. No prior experience is required, as all necessary training will be provided. This is astatewidead formultipleCorrectional Officer positions

You will be able to select yourpreferredwork location in theSecurity Background Questionnaire.

No experience necessary; all training is provided.

Compensation: $22 Hourly as a Trainee, $22.66 Hourly as a Certified Correctional Officer

Correctional Officers are responsible for the supervision, care, custody, control, and physical restraint, when necessary, of inmates in a Correctional Institution or facility.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be at least 18 years of age (no maximum age restriction)
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Not have been convicted of any felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement, nor have received a dishonorable discharge from any of the Armed Forces of the United States. Any person who, after July 1, 1981, pleads guilty or nolo contendere to or is found guilty of a felony or of a misdemeanor involving perjury or a false statement shall not be eligible for employment or appointment as an officer, notwithstanding suspension of sentence or withholding of adjudication.
  • Pass a medical examination and drug test.
  • Have a good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
  • Criminal Justice Incentive Program (CJIP)
  • Annual salary additive for Broward, Dade, Indian River, Martin, Monroe, Okeechobee, Palm Beach, or St. Lucie counties.
