Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky, Department of Corrections, is seeking motivated individuals for the Correctional Officer position at the Fredonia, KY facility. The base pay is $39,127.68 annually plus Locality Premium, Shift Premium, Weekend Premium, and Holiday Premium, with Executive Branch, full-time status and overtime eligibility.

Responsibilities include maintaining security, supervising inmates, assisting with medical/visitation needs, conducting rounds, and preparing reports.

Qualifications

High school graduate.
No experience required.
Must meet special requirements (age, licensure, etc.).

Responsibilities

Maintains control of the institution to provide safety and security of facility inmates, staff, and the public by enforcing rules and procedures.
Supervises inmate activities in housing units, dining areas, recreation and work areas.
Attends to medical, visitation, personal property, and recreational needs of inmates.
Inspects and patrols grounds for contraband and security risks.
Completes required reports and daily logs.
Conducts inmate counts, security rounds, and searches.
