Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to pass a background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Maintains security in buildings/towers/other posts of an adult correctional facility; intervenes during emergencies or altercations and gains physical control of offenders.
• Supervises movement of offenders inside/outside the facility; conducts counts; searches for contraband; Escorts/transports offenders.
• Supervises offenders in housing units and during activities.
• Inspects for health and safety hazards; submits reports on violations or deficiencies.
• Discusses adjustment problems with offenders; promotes rehabilitation by guiding attitudes and behaviors.
• Supervises visits and searches of visitors/offenders/buildings/grounds for contraband.
• Performs work under established rules and general administrative direction.
• Performs other related work as assigned.
