Job Description

The Correctional Officer I maintains safety and security in CDOC facilities, supporting inmates' preparation for community reentry. Responsibilities include supervising inmates, monitoring facility access, operating security devices, escorting inmates, conducting searches, responding to emergencies, and documenting incidents.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong work ethic, integrity, decision-making skills, and ability to work under stress
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of criminal justice systems and department policies
• Ability to operate security and communication equipment

Conditions of Employment

• Legally eligible to work in the U.S., pass background and health screenings
• Valid driver’s license, clean criminal record, and ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Willingness to work in a correctional environment, including physical and security training
