Position Overview

The Correctional Officer I maintains safety and security in CDOC facilities, supporting inmate preparation for community reentry. Responsibilities include inmate supervision, facility monitoring, security checks, inmate transport, and emergency response.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
Required Competencies
  • Strong work ethic, integrity, sound judgment, and stress management;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Knowledge of criminal justice systems and correctional methods;
  • Ability to operate security equipment and respond to emergencies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills;
  • Mentoring or volunteer experience.
Conditions of Employment

Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, be eligible to work in the U.S., have no felony convictions, and pass background and health screenings. Successful completion of basic training and physical requirements is mandatory.
