Washington County, MN is seeking temporary Correctional Officers to oversee inmates in county jail and juvenile holding facilities. Starting pay is $32.26 per hour, with flexible shifts and a comprehensive screening process including background, psychological, and medical examinations.

The role requires handling a range of duties from intake processing to daily inmate management, maintaining security, and coordinating with multiple agencies.

Qualifications

• Requires High School diploma or equivalent and two years related experience.
• Background investigation, psychological and medical examinations required.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inmate management duties within a jail facility.
• Supervise, control and escort inmates, visitors, staff and vendors; ensures that all movement is authorized.
• Determine security risk of prisoners going to court and escort prisoners to and from court controlling their conduct; assist court security for emergencies if requested.
• Deescalate disturbances and altercations in the Jail.
• Maintain security of inmates during transport and court appearances; escort inmates as needed.
• Answer questions of the public, law enforcement officials, other departments and inmates in accordance with Data Practices Act and County policy.
