There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position at this grade level.
The Department of Justice, Bureau of Prisons, has established medical requirements for Correctional Officer positions, which involve mental and physical demands such as prolonged walking and standing, restraining prisoners in emergencies, and participating in escape hunts. Applicants must be physically capable of performing these duties and free from health issues that pose employment hazards.
If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience, with actual time spent (hours per week) documented. Your eligibility will be based on your responses to the application questions.
