Job summary

County of Colusa is seeking Correctional Officers to join our Sheriff's Office. You will work in a team-oriented environment to maintain a safe jail and protect the public.

Experience is not required; applicants should have a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and be willing to work irregular hours. Training and advancement opportunities are available within the Colusa County Sheriff's Office.

Qualifications

• Think critically and act with integrity and trustworthiness.
• Possess exceptional communication skills for working with inmates, staff, and the public.
• Willingness to work irregular hours, holidays, and weekends.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is required or the ability to obtain one.
• Current enrollment or completion of Correctional Officer Core Course is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and secure jail environment for inmates, staff, and the public.
• Work directly with inmates and staff to ensure safety and order.
• Transport inmates to court appearances, medical appointments, and other facilities (approx. 50% time).
• Participate in teamwork, communication, and decision-making to protect the community.
