The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for multiple Female Correctional Officer 1 positions at the Hiland Mountain Correctional Center (HMCC) in Eagle River, Alaska.
Note: This recruitment is for Female Applicants Only due to institutional needs.
Correctional Officers earn up to 16 days of paid leave in the first two years, increasing with years of service, and receive 11 paid holidays annually.
This position involves an 84-hour work week with a "week on/week off" schedule, alternating day and night shifts.
Correctional Officer 1 positions work under supervision to learn duties related to custody, security, care, and reformation of prisoners. They participate in training programs and perform entry-level tasks. During the first 12-14 months, new officers receive structured training and attend a seven-week academy. Upon successful completion and certification, they may promote to Correctional Officer 2.

HMCC is a facility for housing female prisoners, located in Eagle River, Alaska, with a peaceful, wooded setting, encompassing 11 buildings on 62.7 acres, with a capacity of 400 prisoners.
Required: Completion of Alaska Correctional Officer Academy or equivalent, and one year of relevant experience. Must be 21 years old, a U.S. citizen or National, and have a high school diploma or GED. Appointment to CO 2 is conditional on passing background checks, psychological, drug, and medical evaluations.
Applicants must submit a notarized F-3 Personal History Statement and supporting documents as outlined. Successful candidates will receive a conditional job offer, contingent upon passing background, drug screening, medical, and psychological assessments.
