Location of (1) Position to be Filled: Department of Correction, West Tennessee State Penitentiary, Lauderdale County

Pre-employment requirements: Motor Vehicle Records screening, drug screening, criminal background check, physical and psychological evaluations, and a fingerprint-based criminal history records check are required.

Salary and Benefits: The position offers a monthly salary of $4,267 ($51,204 annually). Newly hired officers are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus, payable over 18 months.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willingness to qualify with, carry, and use assigned weapons.
• At least 18 years old, U.S. citizen, with good moral character.
• No felony convictions; discharge from armed forces under other than honorable conditions.
• Ability to pass physical, psychological, drug tests, and a criminal history check.
• Valid motor vehicle license (in some positions).
• Successful completion of training at the Tennessee Correction Academy.
