How You Make a Difference

The Correctional Nursing Assistant provides direct support under the supervision of licensed nurses, assisting with patient care and medication distribution. Responsibilities include:

• Organizing and documenting keep‑on‑person medications; maintaining medication storage areas; ensuring compliance with state practice acts and facility policies.
• Assisting during sick‑call and chronic care appointments: recording vital signs, obtaining specimens, performing point‑of‑care testing.
• Facilitating telehealth visits; assisting with procedures such as EKGs; managing sharps inventory; ensuring infection control.
• Ensuring accurate documentation, patient confidentiality, and participation in audits, continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities, and HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

• High school graduate or equivalent

Experience

• 1‑year related experience in a medical environment preferred

Licenses / Certifications

• Current CPR certification
• Licensed Nursing Assistant
• Medication aide certification preferred within the state of service
