Job summary

Unity Health Care seeks a Mental Health Clinician to deliver behavioral health services within the DC Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include psychosocial evaluations, treatment planning, psychotherapy, and discharge planning for incarcerated individuals.

The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, secure setting management, and a commitment to trauma-informed, recovery-focused care for underserved populations in Washington, DC.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related behavioral health field required.
• Current DC license as an LPC, LICSW, LGSW, or equivalent behavioral health license required.
• Minimum of three (3) years of post-graduate experience in a psychiatric social work or behavioral health setting required.
• Strong knowledge of mental health diagnoses and psychotherapy techniques.
• Working knowledge of psychopharmacology and substance use treatment modalities.
• Excellent communication, crisis intervention, and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a secure correctional healthcare environment.
• Commitment to serving underserved and justice-involved populations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct psychosocial evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans.
• Provide individual and group psychotherapy services.
• Coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care with community resources.
• Assist inmates with identification cards, health insurance, and income resources.
• Maintain documentation per policies and procedures.
• Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and treatment planning.
