Job summary

Parkland Health is seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide total nursing care under supervision in the Jail North Tower. The role centers on delivering quality patient care during night shifts, with a 6pm–6am rotation.

Responsibilities include triaging patients, coordinating treatments with physicians and staff, maintaining compliance with nursing standards, and supporting patient education and discharge planning. Requires TX LVN license and BLS.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of vocational nursing and licensed by the Texas Board of Nursing as an LVN, or hold a valid Compact LVN license.
• Current, valid LVN license or temporary LVN license from the Texas Board of Nursing; compact LVN license accepted.
• Current healthcare provider BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

Responsibilities

• Screens and prioritizes patients to ensure timely treatment per physician orders and policies.
• Assist with inpatient/clinic coordination and patient flow, including treatments and discharges.
• Maintain knowledge of regulations, policies, and Joint Commission standards affecting nursing processes.
• Communicate patient information to patients, families, and care teams; reinforce education.
• Precept and supervise new staff and students as directed; complete documentation per guidelines.
• Collaborate with team to provide patient-centered care and coordinate workflow for timely care.
• Ensure supplies are available for patient care and assist with stocking as needed.
• Clean and sterilize patient areas and instruments to maintain a safe healthcare environment.
• Identify process improvements and support annual goals for the nursing area.
