Job summary

The Kentucky Department of Corrections, part of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, is seeking a Correctional Lieutenant to lead and manage custody, security, and safety operations within a correctional facility located in West Liberty, KY.

Qualifications

• Must have two years of experience in corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice or related fields.
• Strong communication, time management and leadership abilities.
• Able to work under pressure and establish teamwork for safe operation.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and assigns correctional sergeants and officers.
• Plans shift coverage for facility operations.
• Investigates reported occurrences and submits written reports.
• Serves as shift supervisor in absence of the Correctional Captain.
• Monitors expenditures for staff time, overtime and maintenance.
• Responds to emergencies.
• Completes investigations including disciplinary reports and grievances.
• Ensures timely completion of reports.
• Conducts evaluations of employees.
