This position is in Caswell County at Caswell Correctional Center. Caswell Correctional Center is a male medium custody facility which houses approximately 484 inmates. Candidate in this position must be able to effectively communicate verbally and written with staff, inmates, and the public. Candidate will provide supervision as the OIC for subordinate staff, as well as providing supervision of inmates, conduct shift line-up, create shift assignments, and inspect all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post. Complete, review and maintain time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations and administrative forms. Account for persons and funds and ensure that all assigned equipment is operationally ready. Identify training needs and coordinate delivery of training to subordinate staff. Conduct investigations and searches.

As of January 1, 2025, there are new increase adjustments to the state’s pay plans which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission, effective January 1, 2025. The new salary range(s) will be $39,671 - $69,426.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. About the NC Dept. of Adult Correction (DAC):
The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
Caswell Correctional Center is located in Blanch, NC in Caswell County and is a medium custody, male felon unit with a maximum capacity of 484 offenders.

To qualify for this position, applicants must document in the work experience section of the application that they possess ALL of the following:
High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years six months of experience as a Correctional Sergeant, or two years of experience as a Correctional Sergeant II; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the N.C. Criminal Justice Education and Training and Standards Commission.
