Job summary

The State of South Carolina is seeking a supervisor to direct the commissary, laundry, and barber/beauty operations within a correctional environment. The role includes supervising laundry operations, training inmate workers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient procedures.

You will assist the commissary manager with supply distribution, ensure sanitation of barber equipment, manage inventories, and respond to staffing requests.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma is required.
• Work experience directly related to the area of employment is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct the commissary, laundry & barber/beauty operations within a correctional environment.
• Supervise the laundry operations.
• Train and oversee all inmate workers.
• Ensure proper procedures are utilized; maintain equipment.
• Assist the commissary manager with supply distribution.
• Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of barber equipment.
• Order and stock necessary equipment and supplies.
• Develop and implement a system to reduce and/or eliminate theft of laundry items.
• Assist in accountability of records inventories, weekly recaps, postings and SCEIS entries.
• Respond to staff requests.
• Perform duties of manager in their absence.
