Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a supervisor to direct commissary, laundry and barber/beauty operations within a correctional environment. You will oversee laundry operations, train inmate workers, ensure procedures, maintain equipment, and assist with supply distribution.

You will also ensure sanitation of barber equipment, stock supplies, and develop systems to prevent theft of laundry items while managing records inventories and SCEIS entries.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.
• Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Direct the commissary, laundry & barber/beauty operations within a correctional environment under the commissary manager.
• Supervise the laundry operations.
• Train and oversee all inmate workers.
• Ensure proper procedures are utilized.
• Maintain equipment.
• Assist the commissary manager with supply distribution.
• Ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness of barber equipment.
• Order and stock necessary equipment and supplies.
• Develop & implement a system to reduce and/or eliminate theft of laundry items.
• Assist in accountability of records inventories, weekly recaps, postings and SCEIS entries.
• Respond to requests to staff.
• Perform duties of manager in their absence.
