Correctional Housing Unit Manager I - NC Correctional Institution for Women

Job Overview

Reporting to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position assists in managing and operating an institutional housing unit. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Implementing and monitoring the unit case management system, providing individual counseling, participating in group sessions, and maintaining reports on offenders’ progress.
  2. Supervising staff and, in the absence of the Correctional Unit Manager II, assuming overall management of the unit.
  3. Serving on institutional classification committees.
Additional Information

Effective January 1, 2025, salary ranges will be adjusted to $35,984 - $62,971 following approval by the State Human Resources Commission.

Qualifications

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience with report writing.
  • Knowledge of case management practices, supportive counseling, and interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
  • Knowledge of prison policies, procedures, and facility operations.

Minimum education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or GED and four years of correctional experience, including at least one year in a supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification eligibility by the NC Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission is required.

Work Schedule

This position requires working mid-shift hours from 12 PM to 9 PM, Monday through Friday.
