Job summary

Advanced Houston Specialty Hospital in Spring, TX is seeking a Pharmacist to manage medications for incarcerated individuals in a newly renovated facility. You will supervise the pharmacy technicians and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with physicians, nurses, and security to deliver safe pharmaceutical care. Requires a Pharm.D.

or B.S. Pharm, a current Texas Pharmacist license, and at least 2 years of hospital staff pharmacist experience. BLS and IV certification are required.

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy as required.
  • Texas Pharmacist license current and unrestricted.
  • Two years hospital staff pharmacist experience preferred, correctional setting a plus.
  • BLS and IV certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Verify physician orders for medications using the pharmacy information system.
  • Review orders for appropriateness of drug type and dose against clinical flags.
  • Dispense and verify prescribed medications per state and federal laws.
  • Adjust dosages based on clinical protocols and patient factors.
  • Manage controlled substances and inventory per DEA and policies.
  • Provide drug information to physicians and nurses.
  • Ensure formulary compliance and participate in cost containment.
  • Oversee storage, security, and expiration monitoring.
  • Educate staff and patients on medication use and side effects.
  • Document activities in the EHR.
  • Adhere to safety, security, and confidentiality protocols.
