Job summary

Harris Health seeks a physician to provide high-quality care to individuals housed in Harris County Jail. The role requires completing intake assessments, managing urgent and chronic conditions, and collaborating with APNs, nursing staff, radiology, pharmacy, dental and labs.

Must hold or be eligible for Texas MD license, be board-certified/board-eligible in Family/Internal/Emergency Medicine, and maintain DEA license; strong communication and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• MD degree; board certified or board-eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
• Must become board certified before board eligibility expires.
• Texas Medical Board license to practice medicine in TX; registered as physician.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake health assessments and manage urgent care issues.
• Identify and treat chronic care illnesses.
• Collaborate with Advanced Practice Practitioners and nursing staff.
• Coordinate with the Harris County Sheriff Office deputies and hospital services when needed.
