Harris Health System seeks a Physician to join the Correctional Health Medical Infirmary for 12-hour day shifts, delivering high-quality care to inmates in Harris County Jail. The role offers a mission-driven environment with a $25K retention bonus.

Responsibilities include intake assessments, management of urgent and chronic conditions, and collaboration with on-site radiology, pharmacy, lab, dental, nutrition, and nursing teams. Strong coordination with the Sheriff’s Office is required.

Qualifications

• MD or DO required; board certification within the required timeframe.
• Board certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine preferred.
• Active license and credentialing needed for practice in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Perform intake assessments and manage urgent and chronic conditions.
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers and interdisciplinary teams.
• Coordinate care with external hospitals when higher-level care is required and ensure regulatory compliance.
