Job summary

Lake Land College Illinois seeks an instructor to teach courses and labs in the Construction Occupations Certificate program. You will prepare guides, recommend textbooks, and submit materials for approval, while coordinating with the Associate Dean and other instructors.

You will also manage attendance/grades, attend faculty meetings, and participate in college committees. Prior teaching in construction trades is preferred, with strong communication and dependable work habits.

Responsibilities

• Teach courses and labs as assigned in the Construction Occupations Certificate program.
• Prepare or revise guides for courses offered in the division and submit for review.
• Submit textbook recommendations to the Associate Dean.
• Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials to the Associate Dean.
• Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Associate Dean.
• Attend faculty meetings called by administrative officers.
• Be on work site for 37.5 hours per week (30 minute lunch).
• Arrive at work site prior to the established shift and class time.
• Serve on committees for the betterment of the College.
• Assist in registration as needed.
• Observe and enforce college regulations and policies; inform President of issues.
• Maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics; equipment and keys.
• Prepare EGGC forms task lists and attendance reports.
• Assist institutional personnel during emergencies.

Job description

Responsible for teaching courses and labs in the Construction Occupations Certificate program.

Essential Job Functions:

1. In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare or revise guides for courses offered in their division and submit to the appropriate Administrator for review.
2. Teach classes assigned by the Associate Dean and approved by the Vice President following course outlines approved by the College.
3. In cooperation with other instructors concerned prepare textbook recommendations and submit to the Associate Dean.
4. Submit purchase order requests for instructional materials books required commodities and supplies to Associate Dean for approval.
5. Report attendance and grades as prescribed by the Associate Dean.
6. Attend faculty meetings called by the administrative officers.
7. Be on work site for 37.5 hours per week (30 minute lunch).
8. Arrive at work site prior to beginning of established shift.
9. Arrive at the classroom prior to the scheduled class time.
10. Serve on such committees for the betterment of the College as may be established by the administration and faculty.
11. Assist in registration as needed.
12. Consider the general and special needs of the student. Assist students in meeting needs or solving problems when necessary seek additional help from other college services.
13. Observe support and enforce the regulations policies and programs of the College and inform the President in writing of any problem that might have a detrimental effect on the College.
14. Conduct oneself in a professional manner.
15. Notify the appropriate Administrator well in advance of absences.
16. Maintain inventory and control of flammable and caustics.
17. Maintain accurate control of tools and keys on assignment.
18. Prepare EGGC forms task lists and attendance reports as required.
19. Maintain hourly count check on students.
20. Assist institutional personnel during emergency situations.
21. Comply with Illinois Department of Corrections regulations and procedures.
22. Maintain equipment assigned to area

Education Requirements:

• Associate Degree Preferred.

Experience Requirements:

• Teaching Experience Desired.
• Experience in Construction Trades Required.

Knowledge:

• Estimating Practices.

Skills:

• Must be able to layout truss rafters,wall sections,hang windows and doors,perform drywall installation and finishing.
• Skills in masonry and electrical and plumbing required.
• Must have good communication skills.

Personal Requirements:

• Good Interpersonal Skills.
