Job summary

State of Indiana is seeking a Correctional Caseworker at Indiana State Prison in Michigan City to coordinate case management and help incarcerated individuals access programs and services, creating case plans and assisting in release and re-entry.

A degree is not required, but a HS diploma or equivalent and 1+ years in social work, corrections or related field are considered; strict monitoring and mandatory certifications apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or HSE required; relevant experience may be considered.
• Must obtain IRAS certification within 90 days of hire.
• Mandatory training including DOC Training Program, case management training, First Aid and CPR.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to offenders on job assignments, housing changes, transfers, and facility procedures.
• Liaise with prospective employers, courts, community and government agencies for job development and release adjustment.
• Assess offenders' risk and needs using the Indiana Risk Assessment System (IRAS).
• Create individualized case plans addressing risk and needs; track program and job participation; prioritize interventions for higher risk behaviors.
• Document interactions and progress during incarceration.
• Coordinate with facility staff to address re-entry and release issues.
