State of North Carolina - Adult Correction is seeking a Corrections Captain III (S) at Eastern Correctional Institution in Maury. The role oversees custody operations, supervises Lieutenant III staff, and coordinates discipline, inspections, and incident response to maintain safety and order for a male facility housing around 477 inmates.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with corrections experience and NC CJ standards certification eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required with at least three years’ experience as a Correctional Lieutenant, or two years as Correctional Lieutenant III, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.

Responsibilities

• Disseminate and interpret prison rules, regulations, and orders.
• Supervise Correctional Lieutenant IIIs and act as Officer-In-Charge as needed.
• Conduct frequent inspections of housing units, buildings, grounds, and posts to ensure discipline and operations.
• Implement disciplinary actions and work to prevent or resolve incidents like assaults, riots, or escapes.
• Investigate offender complaints and prepare reports for higher-level officials.
• Prepare offender reports detailing behavior and work records for classification decisions.
