This position is located at Maury Correctional Institution. Â Duties include data entry, collection, and making and reporting clinical impressions of inmates during assessment or in daily activities on the Residential Mental Health or infirmary unit.Â
This position may assist with group or individual supportive counseling in various settings, including arts and crafts, leisure activities, horticulture, and quilting. This position may be responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and inventorying supplies used for programming. Â Employees may set up testing situations in the diagnostic center and in monitoring offenders as they work on treatment goals. They may also assist in aftercare planning under the direction of a clinical social worker. The employee's supportive counseling role includes the use of crisis intervention techniques and referrals to treatment staff as required.Â
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. Applicants must pass a background check to be eligible for this job.Â

Bachelor's degree in psychology or other human services field from an appropriately accredited institution with several classes in psychology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Â
Special Note: Positions being recruited specifically for diagnostics will require at least one year administering and/or conducting psychological testing.
Management Preferences
The coursework should include general psychology, statistics, abnormal personality, and developmental psychology.

The team of physicians, nurses, behavioral health services, dental services, psychiatric services, pharmacy services, and licensed healthcare administration services work together to provide emergent, acute, routine, and chronic health care, as well as preventive medicine at all prison facilities. They also coordinate with specialists and other clinical consultants outside of prisons throughout the state to ensure comprehensive health and well-being towards a safe transition from prison, improving public health, and decreasing recidivism.
