NYSDOCCS Recruitment seeks candidates for Correction Officer Trainee roles. Successful applicants will participate in a 12-month training program and attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for at least 8 weeks, advancing to Correction Officer upon completion.

These officers are responsible for custody and security, and for the safety and well-being of individuals in state facilities, including associated campuses and centers.

Correction Officer Trainees are required to participate in, and satisfactorily complete, requirements of a 12-month training program before advancing to Correction Officer. As part of the program, you will attend the Correctional Services Training Academy for a minimum 8-week formal training program.

Correction Officers are responsible for the custody and security, as well as for the safety and well-being of incarcerated individuals in state correctional facilities, shock incarceration correctional facilities, work release centers and a drug treatment campus.

• Salary range includes a $5,000 annual geographic pay differential.

• 104 hours of vacation annually, up to a maximum of 156 hours, depending on length of service.
