Job summary

Grant Thornton is seeking a Corporate Tax Manager in the United States, supporting business income tax planning, corporate compliance, and ASC 740 engagements. The role collaborates with the Washington National Tax Office and client management across multiple engagements in a hybrid work setting.

You will lead engagements, mentor staff, and help expand services with existing clients while maintaining high standards of quality and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• CPA or JD/active law license required.
• Minimum 4–7 years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience.
• Experience in corporate income tax and ASC 740 accounting for income taxes.

Responsibilities

• Run client engagements from start to finish, including planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget.
• Supervise, train, and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement reviews.
• Identify opportunities to sell services to existing and potential clients.
• Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide recommendations on preparation and tax savings.
• Conduct primary review of form 1120S or ASC 740 engagements.
• Research and consult on tax matters; utilize tax software to prepare and process returns.
• Respond to inquiries from IRS, state, and other tax authorities.
• Maintain strong client relationships and gather information for tax services.
• Understand client operations to better serve engagements.
• Attend professional development and training sessions regularly.
• Adhere to high professional standards and client confidentiality.
