Position Overview: Our company seeks an energetic and career-minded accounting professional with a general understanding of US GAAP and financial statements, to join our accounting and finance team as a Corporate Staff Accountant. In this position you will support the day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close process, and external audit process under GAAP, ensuring financial accuracy, preparing key reconciliations and assisting with intercompany accounting and consolidations. The position reports to our Corporate Accounting Manager.

Work location and arrangements: This position is a full-time, hybrid position with an expectation of some days working in-office at our company headquarters in Fort Washington, PA. Our preference is for candidates local to the Philadelphia PA area.

Professional Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to the general ledger to maintain accurate financial records.
  • Perform account reconciliations for cash, prepaid expenses, intercompany accounts, payroll liabilities accounts and other balance sheet accounts as designated by corporate accounting manager.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP accounting principles and corporate accounting policies.
  • Support external audit processes by preparing audit schedules, responding to auditor requests, and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Work with the Corporate Accounting Manager to support month-end close activities and various other projects.
  • Collaborate with regional and agency staff to gather financial data.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in accounting or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably working at an insurance brokerage or a public accounting firm
  • A CPA or progress towards the CPA certification preferred
  • Possess an in-depth understanding of GAAP and impact on financial reporting within the insurance brokerage industry
  • Proficiency in preparation and analysis of financial statements
  • Experience with insurance-related agency management systems (AMS) including Business Central, Applied EPIC, and BenefitPoint
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft Office Suite tools including Excel and use of pivot tables while working with a high volume of data
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data to inform strategic decision-making
  • Ability to effectively convey complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously and with accuracy
  • Strong teamworking skills and ability to collaborate with other professionals while achieving common goals
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Adhere to ethical standards and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information

Compensation Range: A starting base salary in the $55,000 to $65,000 range, depending on the candidate’s experience. This position is also eligible for additional incentive compensation that is performance based.

*A wide salary range is posted for this position, and any job offer is based upon a salary analysis to comply with the required state pay transparency law. The salary analysis considers relevant experience, education, certifications, and seniority as compared to others doing substantially similar work. There is no guarantee an offer will be at the top of the posted range based on the salary analysis.
